Learning Success is a private tutoring company run by a retired public school teacher of grades Kindergarten through eighth grade. Ms. Moulton taught as a reading intervention specialist and holds both a Clear California, Multiple Subject teaching credential and a Language Development Specialist certificate. Early childhood literacy difficulties are a specialty, as well as building number sense. Ms. Moulton uses play, music, and manipulatives to make learning highly engaging and fun. Ms. Moulton taught adult education to students to get their high school diploma by helping students make up missed assignments in all subject areas.
Learning Success helps all students achieve the academic skills they need to move on to the next step in life. Whether a student is having difficulty mastering reading or number sense, needs basic computer formatting skills, or is an adult needing help in multiple subjects, we are here for you.
Reading difficulties stem from a myriad of sources: Processing difficulties, lack of letter/sound correspondence, unable to recognize letters, lack of vocabulary to make sense and comprehend what you have read, dyslexia (or other neurodevelopmental challenges,) learning disorders, dysgraphia, learning disability, bilingual confusion or subtractive language skills, absence from school and did not attend certain levels and are missing certain skills, and not being able to decode words - make the sounds and blend the sounds into words. Using Total Physical Response (TPR) and a multisensory approach (ZooPhonics,) when learning letter sounds moves newly learned material into long-term memory faster because of the highly engaging material, the novelty and games, and it is proven that when students are highly engaged they learn more quickly and easily.
Spelling difficulties - not recognizing and remembering the patterns in spelling.
Math difficulties can stem from a lack of number sense. Recognizing patterns such as: 3+8=11, 30+80=110 or 10x7=70 and 9x7=70 minus one set of 7....which is 63. Using patterns can help to breach the deficits in solving math problems. Dyscalculia is a learning disability that makes it hard to understand numbers and learn math facts. A solid foundation in number sense, using both real objects and real situations, can help work past the disability because one has the knowledge that there are other ways to solve problems.
